Fundraising for St Ann’s Hospice

Thursday, May 9th, 2013

A representative from St Ann’s Hospice paid a surprise visit this morning to congratulate Scott and Jonny on their Marathon success.

The duo had a target of £500, but with their relentless efforts they raised a whopping £1,370.00

The guys truly went above and beyond to raise funds for the St Ann’s Hospice and their hardwork has really paid off.

The funds will be a great help to the charity, where they can continue to do their amazing work for people around Manchester.

Scott and Jonny would like to thank everyone that donated to their Just Giving page and made this possible. THANK YOU!

K2L’s next challenge is to conquer the Bupa Great Manchester Run, watch this space and we’ll let you know how we get on!

K2L’s 4th Birthday!

Monday, April 29th, 2013

It may be Monday again, but we have a very good reason to celebrate the start of the week…its K2L’s 4th birthday!

We’ve developed significantly over the past four years – taking on more high profile clients, moving to our luxurious 8th floor office on Salford Quays and even running marathons!

In true K2L fashion we have never backed down from a challenge, whether it’s rebranding a business, helping a new company get off the ground or even persuading Scott to dress up as Willy Wonka – but enough said on that.

We put a colossal amount of effort into each campaign we execute, which is why after 4 years we have continued to outshine the competition. Just last year we received an early Christmas present when K2L made the shortlist for RAR’s Top 100 agencies for the second year running.

So to round up our Birthday blog, here’s a nice little poem:

Another year has passed and my how we’ve grown,

All working so hard, sometimes never off the phone,

With an amazing view, on the odd sunny day,

We’re a happy little bunch, wouldn’t you say?

So three cheers for K2L, as we raise a Champagne glass,

These 4 years have really been first-class!

MediaCo Launch New Website

Thursday, April 18th, 2013

We have been incredibly excited this month as we launched the website for one of our clients MediaCo.

Our client specialises in outdoor print and experiential advertising across Wembley Stadium/Arena; and we’re very proud to be part of the whole designing process.

The aim of the website was to showcase the commercial potential of the advertising assets owned by MediaCo and with the website being fully responsive for all platforms it has given our clients more room to expand.

So what are your thoughts on this new website?

The Arrival of The Manchester Gateway Brochure

Monday, March 18th, 2013

The long-awaited brochure that has been designed on behalf of MediaCo Outdoor to promote The Manchester Gateway, has finally arrived!

This monumental Out-of-Home advertising site, which stands across 8 motorway lanes, will be the largest double-sided backlight roadside display in the UK.

To capture the development of this prestigious new landmark structure, we used full CGI with the Manchester skyline in the background to illustrate the fact that this structure will be the first and the last thing people see on their way in and out of Manchester.

Following an impressive design, we wanted to ensure a quality print result, which is why we chose anti-scuff laminate to give the brochure a crisp clean finish that reduces finger/scratch marks.

This has resulted in a truly high quality brochure, which we all love!

Car Transport to Spain-in Style

Thursday, March 14th, 2013

What a day!! Visiting one of our clients this morning and we weren’t expecting to see two of the world’s most prestigious sports cars parked outside their offices.

A £300,000 Lamborghini Aventador and my favourite the Ferrari 458 Spider were sat ready in waiting ready to be whisked away to their lucky owners overseas in Europe.

We weren’t told much about them, which makes me think their owners could well be ‘high profile’, other than they were being transported to exclusive resorts in Vale Do Lobo, Portugal and La Zagaleta, Spain.

(If you haven’t heard of these- Google them, they look amazing!)

Sadly we weren’t allowed to test drive them, although that was probably a good thing, as we would have never started our meeting!

These will be delivered to their destination in the next few days, so we wonder who will be  driving these bad boys?

The Purpose of Social Media

Monday, January 28th, 2013

It seems that these days, all we talk about is liking a page, following someone, re-tweeting a post, click here, click there…the world is going nuts for Social Media and it doesn’t look like this phenomenal will die out any time soon.

For some of you out there, it may seem like the norm to tap on your smart phones and post about your latest meal. But from a business point of view, this isn’t even the tip of the iceberg in terms of how social media can shape your online presence.

Twitter

A simple yet fast paced way to connect with everything, everywhere. Twitter offers real-time information that connects you with the latest stories, opinions and ideas. There are around 200 million active users across the globe, making this a very powerful platform to be associated with.

Last week, Twitter released a new app, Vine. This cheeky app allows users to upload high quality, very short (about six seconds) looping videos. Some examples we have seen online includes ‘Steak tartare in six seconds’ and your general prank clips.

Pros: This is an effective way to ‘abbreviate something much larger’ according to Vine co-founder Dom Hoffman.

Cons:  As well as the good, there is always the ugly. Since the launch of Vine, the new tech media has already seen users upload adult content. This resulted in Twitter briefly showing a hardcore pornographic video as ‘Editor’s Pick’. The video appeared at the top of many users’ feed, but was quickly removed this morning.

Facebook

There are around 1 billion users currently on the great Zuckerberg platform. Everyday users are interacting with one another, promoting their brands, their services. It’s an incredibly busy and exciting hub where businesses can engage with their target market and meet potential clients.

The team behind Facebook are currently working with Chris Cox (VP of products) to utilise the existing ‘News Feed’. Right now the News Feed section you see on your profile is determined by ‘Edge Rank’. An algorithm  which selects specific content depending on the amount of comments or likes it has.

Chris Cox will be looking at changing this News Feed algorithm into a ‘running query’, where the content put in front of us will be more relevant to the user. E.g. purchase history, web history, location. etc.

Google+

This seems like the new kid on the block, but with 343 million active users, it’s actually taken off in recent years. It has even outranked Twitter and become the world’s 2nd most popular social network after Facebook. This is another major player in the social media industry, as it lets you group your contacts into ‘Circles’ by topic Friends, Family, Colleagues. etc, making it easy for you to share content with relevant people.

Linkedin

Since it was established back in 2003, Linkedin is known as ‘Facebook with a Tie’. The sole purpose of this networking site is to liaise with other businesses and raise your expert profile. It is an ideal platform to raise your professional image and credibility as there are options to add your credentials/portfolio and engage with other professionals in and around your relevant industry. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but from a business perspective, this is a popular network especially for professionals in the B2B industry.

When choosing social media as a form of marketing for your business, you must understand that one size does not fit all. What works for one business may not necessarily work for your own. This fast paced industry requires meticulous research and planning to ensure a strong strategy is in place when you carry out an online marketing campaign.

And Action…

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

Chadwicks Recycling have recently taken part in a charity calendar shoot, raising money for the local hospices.

You may have heard of the ‘Calendar Girls’ who raised money with a calendar of cheeky snaps! Well they have nothing on our clients Chadwicks Recycling!

We’ve just received footage of the Chadwicks team taking part in their 2013 Charity Calendar – you have to see it to believe it.

In aid of two local charities, Bolton Hospice and Wigan and Leigh Hospice we hope it raises loads of money for such worthy causes. Currently, the calendar is at print; however we’ll keep you posted when they’re fresh off the press and let you know how you can get your hands on one.

Charity begins at Chadwicks

Friday, October 19th, 2012

We’ve recently finished a photo shoot for Chadwicks 2013 Charity Calendar and have to say it was one of the funniest afternoon’s we’ve had this year.

In aid of charity, staff at Chadwick’s posed for the 12 calendar months, in what can only be described as a variety of comical scenes. (You have to see them to believe them)

As we now get to work on the design of the calendar, here’s a sneak preview of just a couple of the shots that were taken. With all monies raised going to charity, we’ll keep you up to date on when these go to print and let you know how to get your hold of one.

Knockout of a nite!

Friday, October 19th, 2012

We had a great nite out at the Matthew Hatton fight on Friday thanks to J Davidson and Coldwell Boxing.

With a ringside view, we really felt part of the part of the action as Matthew, former European welterweight champion and also brother to Ricky won in style within 60 secs.

As well as the main event there was some fantastic fights including Anthony Jevon’s who was making his profession debut. He’s definitely one to watch in the future.
