Just three days to go…

race-update-2

It’s time for our final race update. It’s really happening- in just a few days, we’ll be among the 40,000 competing in BUPA’s Great North Run in Manchester.

You can follow the entire race live on the BBC on Sunday at 10.00 – 12.30 – see if you can spot us!

Inevitably, a few pre-race nerves have kicked in at the office, but we’re all determined to do our best and have fun for a good cause! Just a few days to go and we’ll find out if all the hard work was worth it.

In the countdown to race day, we’ve been collecting sponsors for our chosen charity.

We’ll be running the 10k race on Saturday May 20 to raise money for St. Ann’s Hospice. If you’d like to give us an extra boost, there’s still time to show your support and sponsor us for the run.

We’re hoping to raise £1,000 for the cause, but we still need sponsors to meet our target!

Our shiny new addition

coffee-maker

We were greeted on Monday morning by this lovely new coffee maker purchased by Scott.

She’s a right little beauty, all shiny and orange and her coffee’s pack a real punch. Better than the cheap tinned stuff we’ve been drinking for years anyway.

Just need some of these slackers to use it now, ha. Brew anyone?

Regular readers of our blog will be aware of our on-going training for the BUPA Great North Run.

Here’s a quick update to keep you in the loop – there are now less than two weeks to go till we take on the race on May 20.

After a short breather over the bank holiday weekend, our budding athletes are throwing themselves back into their training regimes. That means more evening runs, overtime on the treadmill and visualising the finish line.

We’ll be running the 10k race on Saturday May 20 to raise money for St. Ann’s Hospice. We’re hoping to raise £1,000 for our cause, but we’re still looking for sponsors to help us reach our target.

So what’s the mood at the K2L camp?

“Quietly confident.” (Quote)

“It’s now really sunk in that in less than two weeks will be running the race for real, but we’ve noticed real improvements in our fitness and are now looking forward to the challenge!”

Bring it on!

Bupa Great Manchester Run Update:

April 26th, 2012

Warming up for the Great Manchester Run

Just 26 days to go…

It’s time for another update on our training for the Bupa Great Manchester run!

With the day of the race fast approaching, Team K2L is pulling out all the stops to make sure that we do our sponsors proud in the 10K run.

At this stage with our training routes fully mapped out we’re now striving to shave those valuable seconds from our personal bests.

So what spurs us on to challenge ourselves for that victory lap? Picturing the crowd awaiting at the finish line always conjurers up memories of our favourite sports movies.

Rocky, Karate Kid, Field of Dreams – what they all have in common is the victory montages with upbeat, high-energy soundtracks that make us feel ready to climb a mountain.

Here are a few choice cuts that help us make it through that tough final stretch…

Survivor- Eye of the tiger

Bon Jovi- Livin’ on a prayer

Christina Aguilera- Fighter

Joe Esposito- You’re the best around

Eminem- I’m not afraid

Paul Stanley- Live to win

What are the songs that keep you going? Drop us a line and let us know!

Stay tuned for more updates- we’ll keep you posted on how we’re getting on as race day draws nearer…

If you’d like to sponsor Team K2L in the run, please visit our JustGiving page. All proceeds will go to St Anns’s Hospice. Please donate whatever you can, it’s a worthy cause- the work they do is fantastic.

RUN2

Sad day for us today r’ Tess is moving on.

April 20th, 2012

tess-leaving

Yes it’s all tissues in the studio (and that’s just Tom with his snotty nose) as the Glenmeister moves on to pastures new. So we have another load of donuts to get through and these lovely flowers have just arrived.

From all of us at K2L we just want to thank her for all her hard work and good times she’s brought us in the studio, her Oldham twang and expletives will be sorely missed. Not forgetting her frothy brews, they’ll go down in K2L folklore.

So all the best Tess – now pass me another one of those Krispy Kreme’s.

The training has started… and there’s nowhere to run.

April 17th, 2012

race-update

So the training has started here at K2L for BUPA’s 10th annual Great Manchester 10k Run, and, with only 34 days to go till the big day, panic is starting to set in.

Digging out the dirty trainers that haven’t been worn since 1999 and the old short shorts with inner lining that now seems to have perished was my first port of call. For others it has been a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to our training methods, Tom still thinks he’s going to run it in his Vans and skinny jeans. Others have taken to it like ducks to water and gone all out and bought the whole outfit, Sarah now has a nifty pair of pink Nike’s. Al is the techy, monitoring his every move via GPS through various different apps and wearing the best clothing that sports science has to offer. Me, I prefer the Rocky IV approach, running up mountains, bench pressing any goats that stand in my way in a set of grey sweats.

More updates will follow up until the day itself so keep checking back for more news. Until then, please check our JustGiving page, and if you can help sponsor us with whatever funds you may have available, it’s for a fantastic cause,  St Anns’s Hospice.

K2L team line up for BUPA’s Great Manchester Run

March 30th, 2012

bupa-run

As you well know, at K2L Marketing, we never refuse a challenge. It’s fair to say that we’ve always been prepared to go that extra mile (or 6.2) – especially when it’s for a good cause.

On 20th May we’ll be aiming for a new personal best as we take to the starting line for BUPA’s 10th annual Great Manchester 10k Run as we help raise money for St Anns’s Hospice.

So the sweat bands are out and the Rocky soundtrack is bellowing from the studio soundsystem, on a loop. The excuse for buying a new pair of Asics has already been made by at least one of our budding wannabe athletes, as the daily banter revolves around what outfits we’ll all be donning. One thing is for sure we’ll be well branded on the day. So keep a look out for us if you’re there.

Also our new JustGiving page has just gone up if anyone fancies donating for this worthy cause.

New Beginning campaign reaches a climax this Friday aginst Leeds Rhinos

This Friday our ‘New Beginning’ campaign for Salford City Reds reaches a climax, with three of it’s stars fronting the match image.

Since the start of this season we’ve seen the campaign and it’s players evolve, with them now striding into life. The feedback from the fans has been great, with a whole host of activity on the club’s Facebook page, and with posters and a full page in The Salford Advertiser  it’s shaping up to be another thrilling encounter when they face The Rhinos this Friday night.

Keep your eyes peeled in the forthcoming weeks for further work with The Reds which we’ll be rolling out.

BANNER-1

Recently we’ve been working on some exterior panels for Liverpool John Moores University and as our Tessa only lives around the corner she was able take a few snaps this weekend.

The boards which now surround the old Copperas Hill postal sorting office are part of a massive refurbishment plan that will see the building transformed into a lecture base, which will house departments such as admissions and student support.

The new campus is expected to open in 2014.

K2L logo try’d and tested

At the launch of the new Super League season a few weeks ago we were quite taken aback to see our own orange logo emblazoned on the side of an Eddie Stobart truck (you have to really look closely on the image, just above the Sky Sports logo).

This year sees the renowned distribution company with the naming rights of the Super League (now known as the Stobart Super League) and will use 100 of their 2,250-strong fleet of trucks to freely advertise on with various Super League players.

So next time you see the one with the Salford Reds captain on winging it’s way down the M6, keep a look out for us.
